What steps should Azerbaijan take regarding the deaths of Azerbaijani sailors? – Ahmad Shahidov spoke to ARB24 Television

Five Azerbaijani citizens were killed after two cargo ships traveling from Turkey to Rostov-on-Don in the Sea of Azov came under attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. The deaths of Azerbaijani sailors working aboard vessels operating under foreign flags have caused serious concern in the country. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov told ARB24 Television that the loss of Azerbaijani citizens in foreign conflict zones is an undesirable development for Azerbaijan: “This tragedy once again demonstrates that international conflicts and wars threaten not only the countries directly involved, but also citizens of other nations. Azerbaijani citizens should stay away from such high-risk regions whenever possible.”

Ahmad Shahidov stressed that Azerbaijani citizens should not participate on behalf of any country in international conflicts or military confrontations: “We all have one homeland – the Republic of Azerbaijan. State institutions should strengthen preventive and awareness-raising measures, working closely with citizens and their families. The goal should be to ensure that Azerbaijani citizens stay away from active conflict zones, avoid involvement in foreign wars, and do not put their lives and safety at risk.”
