Russia is trying to create hybrid destabilization in Armenia after the elections – Ahmad Shahidov spoke to ARB24 Television

Political developments in Armenia remain under close scrutiny following the parliamentary elections held on June 7. Despite the victory of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s political force, discussions continue regarding Armenia’s future geopolitical orientation, its relations with Russia, and the prospects for the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.

Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov told ARB24 Television that the election results demonstrated growing public support for closer integration with the West, a trend that Moscow views with concern. “Russia does not want to accept the weakening of its influence in the South Caucasus. Therefore, various political, informational, and economic pressure mechanisms are being used against Armenia. Moscow’s primary objective is to create an atmosphere of hybrid destabilization and limit the room for maneuver of the Pashinyan government,” he said.

According to political analyst Ahmad Shahidov, Armenia’s internal stability will directly affect the future of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. “The Pashinyan administration faces complex challenges, including constitutional reforms, the future of a peace agreement, and adaptation to new geopolitical realities. If domestic political tensions intensify, the peace process may slow down. Nevertheless, maintaining dialogue and mutual understanding remains essential for lasting regional stability,” he added.
