The official visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Germany has attracted significant international attention. During the visit, meetings with the German leadership are focused on expanding bilateral political and economic cooperation, strengthening energy security, promoting green energy projects, and discussing regional issues. Several cooperation agreements are also expected to be signed.
Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov stated in an interview with Real TV that President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Germany marks not only a new stage in Azerbaijan–Germany relations but also the beginning of a new chapter in Azerbaijan–European Union relations. According to him, as Germany is the European Union’s leading political and economic power, the visit will contribute to further strengthening Azerbaijan’s strategic partnership with Europe. Ahmad Shahidov noted that European countries have already recognized Azerbaijan’s leading role in the South Caucasus and the new realities established after the 2020 Karabakh War. He also emphasized that Europe considers Azerbaijan a reliable partner in ensuring energy security.
Ahmad Shahidov further stated that Azerbaijan’s balanced foreign policy, pursued consistently for many years, has significantly strengthened the country’s international standing. In his view, Azerbaijan’s equal and mutually respectful relations with China, the United States, Russia, Iran, Türkiye, and the European Union have established the country as a reliable, predictable, and long-term partner in the eyes of all major global power centers. In this regard, the official visit to Germany is viewed as another successful milestone in Azerbaijan’s multidimensional foreign policy strategy.
