US-Iran negotiations have reached a deadlock, and no agreement is expected in the near future – Ahmad Shahidov spoke to ARB24 Television

Despite repeated statements by US President Donald Trump suggesting that an agreement with Iran is close, and despite calls by the United Nations to reduce tensions in the Middle East, a final settlement between Washington and Tehran remains out of reach. Although diplomatic contacts continue, significant disagreements persist on key issues.

Ahmad Shahidov stated that the negotiations between the United States and Iran have effectively reached a deadlock: “While Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that an agreement is near, the actual progress of the talks suggests that this is largely political optimism. The parties remain divided on the nuclear program, sanctions, and regional security issues. Therefore, there are no clear signs that a meaningful agreement will be achieved in the near future.”

Ahmad Shahidov also noted that ongoing military and political tensions across the region are making diplomatic efforts more difficult: “The latest appeals by the United Nations demonstrate how fragile the situation remains. There is a serious lack of trust between the parties, which continues to hinder progress in negotiations. Under current circumstances, the prospect of a comprehensive peace agreement between the United States and Iran appears very limited.”
